This morning weekly unemployment claims rose to the 470,000 level. Oil is breaking down. Gold is breaking down. Worldwide markets are breaking down. The euro continues it's slide. The world is rushing into the "safety" of US bonds. There is no safe haven. US treasuries are not safe.

And teleprompter Jesus has no answer. His answer, grow government, is the wrong one. You can't turn the US into a welfare nanny state, mired in debt, and call that an answer. You simply can't make everyone a government worker, producing nothing, and think that is going to make the economy fine.

The time to blame Bush is over Obama. You own the "great" spendulus package which was your answer. It hasn't done anything.

Pay attention to what they do, not to what they say. What has Obama done? He runs his mouth and tries time honored traditions that have always failed.

I don't fault the people who voted for Obama. They were deceived. Pure and simple. All that remains at this point is for them to recognize it. Obama represents one of those college kids that gets indoctrinated with everything left. Most of us grow out of that. He didn't.

There is only one solution, Obama. Slash and burn government. Get rid of it. Reduce taxes. Government exists for the safety, perhaps health, and order of it's citizens. That's it. That does not include buying banks and car companies, offering student loans, or bailing out insurance companies. Or whining and blaming everyone in the country. But you see doing the right thing takes great courage and vision...

and in that department, Obama+Courage= Epic Fail.

Life looks a little rosier after 50, a new study finds. Older people in their mid- to late-50s are generally happier, and experience less stress and worry than young adults in their 20s, the researchers say.

The results, based on a Gallup phone survey from 2008 of more than 340,000 Americans, held even after the researchers accounted for factors that could have contributed to differences in well-being with age, such as whether the participants were married, had children at home or were employed.

So if having a partner and getting rid of the kids aren't responsible for the uptick in happiness and general life satisfaction with age, then what is? More studies will be needed to find out, the researchers say.

"That can be based on social things, on societal things, on biological things; and for us that is the big question," study researcher Arthur Stone, a psychologist at Stony Brook University in N.Y.

Two ways to look at life

The findings agree with previous work showing well-being varies with age. And some studies have narrowed things down to suggest that happiness comes with being old, male and Republican.

It's Official, Obama Is Not the Anti Christ

About a year ago, a neo conservative friend of mine called and asked if President Obama could be the anti Christ. Although Obama clearly has many of the qualities and characteristics that one looks for in a good anti-Christ, I was not sure. After watching Dear Leader this year, I feel confident in saying that Obama is not the anti-Christ.

I know, I know, some of you righties want to cling to hope. Perhaps you are questioning my credentials for determining anti- Christs. But I've watched this dude closely last year, which you can do when you are unemployed. Trust me. I am using solid logic.

One other thing. Just because I have determined that Obama isn't the anti-Christ doesn't mean that you non religious types can breathe a sigh of relief. You still have work to do.

The anti-Christ is thought to be a gifted orator. Now at first blush, many of you may think that great oratory qualifies Obama. It doesn't. In fact, what has been spilling out of Obama's mouth lately is precisely what has led me to conclude that he isn't the "big baddy." Nor is he the great genius the lefties think he is. In fact, I'd give this dude a slightly above average score on the big bell curve. Nothing special. Even aided by teleprompters. I could prove my suspicions if we could ever find those missing college transcripts.

The real anti Christ is thought to be a gifted orator- willing and able to persuade everyone. As Obama attacks and blames Bush, attacks and blames Fox news, attacks big banks, attacks auto makers, attacks health insurers, and attacks and blames big oil for a once in a lifetime spill, attacks and blames Arizona for doing the job his government won't, attacks his own constituency and adds glib, snide, and caustic comments- he is guaranteeing and sealing his fate. But not as the historic third anti- Christ. Before it's over, this guy might be able to unite this country but not because he is sneaky smart. We won't unite because of him, we will unite despite him. Obama is not the slick talking orator that will bring about the end times. To do that would take a lot more skill, tact, and savvy than this dude possesses.

There it is. Prima facia evidence Obama isn't the anti-Christ. He ain't even close.

The Debt Titanic

It's all coming together nicely now. The elite have managed- with the help of government, to steal us 95% ers blind.

Need a villain? Want a Democrat villain? A Republican villain?

No you see, it's all much simpler than that. We are on the debt Titanic. The ship has already struck the iceberg.

We are currently 13 trillion in debt. We have another 60 trillion in Medicare, prescriptions, and Social Security now coming due. Tax revenue has come in 17% below projections for this year. And while all that good news was coming to fruition, Obamacare has added another couple of trillion in tax hikes and ultimately debt as health care providers raid this new cookie jar.

Here's a little eyepopper. Not completely off topic, but illustrates just how bad it is. Pay attention to the cost and the very last line.

It is UNFUCKING sustainable. No amount of GDP growth can repair the hull. It doesn't matter whether FDR, or George Bush, or Darth Vader is responsible. Those arguments are passe'.

We have a tremendous problem. I have a solution. In fact, it was always the best solution.

The solution was and is- Social Security and Medicare buyouts. Look, nobody with half a brain can rely on Medicare or Social Security in 20 years. We are running in the red, THIS YEAR, never mind the bulk of recipients in coming years. With 20% of the population unemployed, just who do you think is paying in right now? To sustain the existing system means taking on even more debt and that ain't even a remote possibility. Hyperinflation, the kind you have never seen, will take center stage.

For me, Social Security or Medicare is a mirage. It exists in kind of a wispy, foggy shroud about to be blown away forever. So what happened to that 200 grand paid in by my employers and I? Gone, long gone.

So here's the big finish. Taxpayers, you got hosed. Politicians screwed you once again. Now it's time for the politicians to exercise real courage. Admit the system is broken, dismantle it, and offer buyouts to people, perhaps 25% of all money paid in on an age/actuarial sliding scale, to the people who aren't going to get anything anyway. This money can be used for purchasing health plans, stimulus, and help eliminate the national debt at the same time. In fact, I could make a pretty sound argument that this is what should have been done with the 1.5 trillion bank and jobs stimulus rather than delivering all of our money to the elite. Enriching their already rich lives, while screwing the people who had nothing to do with their gambling habit. We accomplished nothing.

All that remains on the debt Titanic is to see who has 11th hour courage, if any. Will the steerage class go down with this ship? Probably. The cowardly politicians and the elite will find a nice life raft for themselves. They always do.

Maybe it's time for the steerage class to throw those bastards into the drink. I have always loved happy endings.

Granny Hates Free Speech, Whacks Grand Daughter, Goes To Jail

Perfect.

Today, I was viewing a clip of a grandmother who slapped her 18 year old granddaughter for using the word "fuck." I can say that word because this is my blog, you can't hit me, and even if you did-I would then beat the shit out of you anyway.

Free speech. I take a "no holds barred" approach. Why?

In order to be offended by speech any speech- requires a couple of faulty belief systems. The first faulty belief is that you believe yourself to be a victim anytime somebody uses language that you object to. The second faulty belief is that you then take that personally. And the third faulty belief is that somebody else's speech entitles you to hit them.

We have a victim society. We claim victim status over anything. And this granny is no exception- and in fact, she said during the interview and despite her jailing- she would do the same thing all over again.

The answer for granny is simple. Acceptance. People use profanity and no amount of you whacking people- is going to change that. In fact, whacking someone virtually ensures more of the same conduct. Were there other sanctions available to granny? Sure. Kick granddaughter out of your house, call your daughter to come get her, quit giving her cookies. Those are all legal remedies. But the one remedy that causes no ill will, is to simply let her use profanity. Acceptance. Not a big deal.

So I am glad the cops threw granny in jail. She still hasn't figured out that she is the problem. Not a huge stretch of the imagination- to use a time honored cliche'- that the acorn never falls far from the tree.

Hows That Taste?

I've been searching for 3 weeks....searching to find an article detailing the April 15 tax receipts by the U.S. government.

I wanted to see the shortfall. Which of course, raises the deficit from the rosy predictions Obama and crew spun into their budget.

And without further adieu, here it is.

Through April 30, the federal government’s non withheld income taxes are down 17.6 percent from a year earlier.

So despite all of this glorious recovery news, the facts still remain facts. A 20% decrease in tax revenues is pretty ugly. Can't wait to see if the MSM picks this up or what kind of Obama spin they'll put on it. One thing is sure. They never disappoint.

Signs of Life

People are starting to wake up. Really. There is hope.

I would never have believed that one man, President Obama, would do so much for our country. Not by actual intent. But by providing the perfect example of what is wrong with government. Obama is the epitome of all that is wrong.

Obama is arrogant and misguided. He lacks personal courage. He is faced with an unprecedented crisis. Out of control debt and he continues to spend.

And little by little, even the left is starting to see what a grave mistake this man is. His life is completely fraudulent. His citizenship, his college transcripts, even his birth is shrouded in mystery. New reports are beginning to surface that he was forced to surrender his license to practice law. He was never a "professor."

What has he actually accomplished? As it turns out, very little. In fact, when he was given an advance to write a book, he couldn't even do that.

I am in awe of this man. Never have I witnessed one man do so much with so little work or accomplishment. That this man was awarded a Nobel Peace Prize and made 5 million last year while doing essentially nothing but running his mouth, takes my breath away.

Slowly, I am starting to see a a shift. Things are beginning to look up. I have never been as hopeful as I am this spring. Obama has no real plan. And signs of people realizing this are popping up all over. Real green shoots.

Two Left Coasts

We're Not Interested in Opinions Mr. President, We Are Looking for Results

Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer on Friday signed into law a controversial bill that seeks to crack down on illegal immigration.

The sweeping measure will make it a crime under state law to be in the country illegally. It will also require local police officers to question people about their immigration status if there is reason to suspect they are in the country illegally.

It takes effect 90 days after the current legislative sessions end in the next several weeks.

Before signing the bill, Brewer called the measure "another step forward in protecting the state of Arizona."

She said the bill "represents another tool for our state to use as we work to solve a crisis that we did not create and the federal government has refused to fix -- the crisis caused by illegal immigration." Earlier, President Obama called the bill "misguided" and said it could violate people's civil rights. He said he's instructed the Justice Department to see if it is legal.

The bill's Republican sponsor, state Rep. Russell Pearce of Mesa, said Obama and other critics of the bill were "against law enforcement, our citizens and the rule of law."

Civil rights activists have said the bill would lead to racial profiling and deter Hispanics from reporting crimes.

Only in America can you pass laws, refuse and fail to enforce them, and then criticize states for doing the job that for 20 or 30 years- you have failed to do.

I'll stop short of calling Obama a reverse racist. I'll just say he is sympathetic and has placed his sympathies in a superior position to his job duties. We don't pay government for their opinions, we pay them to do a job. As Chief of the Executive branch, one might think that it is Obama's job to actually enforce laws, not criticize those who do. A Federal government that should be ashamed of themselves for their complicity in breaking immigration laws and who then summon up the arrogance and audacity to launch attacks on those actually forced to pick up their slack. Wow.

The mandate is obvious President Obama. Lead, follow, or get the hell out of the way.

Thank you to the Arizona legislature, Governor Brewer, and Sheriff Joe Arpaio for doing the job that your citizens elect you to do. You are a beacon of hope and good news at a time when there seems to be so little of each.

Let No Good Deed Go Unpunished

Be wary good Samaritans. This story does not have a happy ending. This is what happens when you are swilling Irish whiskey and that genius you have been hiding all of your life- suddenly emerges.

Late one night it occurred to me that we Americans are mired in this economic recession/depression/mess with about 60 trillion in debt. (13 existing, 45 trillion in Social Security and Medicare) What if the government simply bought us out of their obligation to pay us?

What if they simply paid us all of the money we had put into the Social Security "fund" (it doesn't exist, it has been spent) and kept the employer match? Once we opt out, we get a check for our individual contributions- no interest, no employee match because that money doesn't exist anyway. If we continue to work after opting out, employers simply continue to contribute on our behalf although we would get nothing. This way we would not have to contribute any longer. The money paid by employers would be used to fund existing liabilities and reduce the overall obligations for those electing to stay in.

Now I'm not an actuary or a math whiz but certainly someone could come up with a win-win version of this. But I think it would work. The money we would receive in a lump sum could be used to buy capital goods and homes and jump start this mess we're in- while reducing entitlement debt dramatically.

So I thought it was a good enough idea to write up and thus I fired off a letter to my Congressman. This is the deep, heartfelt, and personal reply that I received;

Dear Brian:

Thank you for contacting me regarding the Social Security system. I share your concerns about ensuring the solvency of Social Security, and the importance of fulfilling the promises made to Americans in the Social Security system.

I am working to fulfill the promises made to all Americans in the current Social Security system and remain committed to protecting the Social Security program. Like you, I believe that after a lifetime of working and paying taxes, our nation's seniors should know they will receive full benefits when they retire. As you may know, the Social Security Board of Trustees reports that Social Security tax revenues will remain above program costs until 2017. The Trustees project that program costs will exceed tax revenues plus interest from the trust funds in 2027. Most critically, the Social Security Trust Funds will be exhausted in 2041. We must assure that the system is sustainable long into the future. To maintain the current system, either payroll taxes must be increased or benefits decreased. Neither of these options is acceptable to me. While many do not agree on the appropriate steps to reform the Social Security system, most agree that the current system must be restructured and modernized to secure the future of Social Security.

As a member of the House Budget Committee, I am in the process of evaluating all proposals that have been suggested for securing and improving the Social Security system. Rest assured, I will continue to monitor this issue and keep your thoughts and concerns in mind.

A few years ago, I bought a NASDAQ traded company that was filing false reports. I filed a complaint with the SEC and they didn't even bother writing me an email. I lost 10k on a completely corrupt company while I was trying to determine the veracity of their statements. And these are the fucking guys that people think are going to police complex financial markets?

Don't Cash Your 401k and Other Great Lies

Until now, no other place on the internet will tell you to cash out your 401k, except me. I should tell you that I am a drunken idiot. Oh yea, and I don't have any vested interest in ripping you off. But those other guys do.

We are a nation of parrots and sheep. The parrots talk and the sheep walk. And as long as the sheep don't figure out they are getting shorn, well the parrots are happy. Investing reality exists in taking a look at facts and likely future events. That and I hate parrots. I am reminded of the great history lesson contained in the Holland tulip bulb story many centuries ago and the "conventional wisdom" that existed at that time.

The stock market for the ten year period Apr. 20, 2000 until now has actually lost value. About 5%. At 11, 700 in 2000 we stand today hovering near 11,000. I don't think 10 years can be called a short term horizon. Yet after 10 years of investing, my net loss is 5%. The truth was hard to escape. And then I remembered the configuring...

Another little trick you have to remember is that the Dow 30 was comprised of a few bankrupt stocks like GM and Citi back then. As their businesses crumbled, you as an investor ate those losses. The Dow simply threw out those losers and added a couple of new stocks to maintain their averages. Enter Cisco, Intel, and Travelers. Mature companies already. Hence today's Dow 11,000. What if they had left GM, Citi in? Lower, much lower.

Mutual fund managers and accountants love to tell you that you will lose 20% plus a 10% penalty for early withdrawal, plus state and local taxes when cashing out a 401k. No kidding, they are parrots.

You see I already pay those amounts. I always have. They were called Federal tax, social security and medicaid tax, and state tax. The 10 percent penalty I paid was simply money the government would have gobbled up anyway in the form of higher tax brackets, increased social security and medicaid costs- had I not aggressively deferred so much into my plan.

People forget about shit like that. Parrots never seem to mention things like that.

But wait it gets better.

Last year, I eyed the ten year returns of the market and saw losses. And a crushing national debt emerging. I also realized that not only would tax rates increase in the future but all of this debt slavery had diluted the value of dollars. Had the Fed allowed deflation to occur- the value of savings would have risen. I would have stayed put. This is the natural course of events- of supply and demand. But since the Fed was willing to bail out debtors and hose savers by increasing dollar supplies, I got a double whammy. They were going to dilute the actual purchasing power of my savings to such an extent that remaining in a 401k was a lose-lose-lose situation.

My first loss occurred in the first half of my 10 year horizon. I lost about 5%. My second loss occurs if I remain in the fund and my future tax rates go up to pay for all of that spending. I lose again when the Fed backs inflation in favor of deflation and devalues the purchasing power of my savings. And all of this saving is contingent upon one other thing. The greatest lie ever told.

The market only goes up. What were the chances of my 401k investment doubling in the next ten years? Virtually impossible. And even if the market rises, when I turned 59 and 1/2, I was still going to pay taxes. Higher taxes with devalued dollars.

I believe that in the years to come, cashing out a 401k like I did last year will actually make sense. I originally bought into the belief, the great lie, that markets always go up. But you see buying stock and holding it, hoping to get some other sucker to pay more for it only works when the generations behind you are bigger than your own. Those generations must have a greater demand and an appetite than yours did when it comes time to sell. That is the only way to satisfy demand. When the generations that follow you are smaller in size, with lessening purchasing power and diluted dollars, demand will surely dry up. Think the market is going to double by 2020 with a national debt of 20 trillion? I wasn't willing or able to believe in that fantasy.

It is a great lie and a fairy tale. The parrots chirp because they don't want you heading for the exits. They are "frozen" by conventional wisdom which is not so conventional and not so wise- as it turns out. But they can't make money without having control over your money. Heading for the exit made sense to me. But then again I relied on facts rather than hope. Our tulip bulb fascination with the stock market has spanned over 100 years. Sooner rather than later, it may dawn on people that they don't need to hold pieces of paper with no value. Just as in Holland, oh so many years ago, it dawned on somebody that you really didn't need tulip bulbs after all- much to the dismay of the parrots.

Government's Goldman Sachs... Dog and Pony Show

You can't make money without volatility, really.

The big news yesterday was that the Securities and Exchange Commission was investigating
Goldman Sachs for fraud related to the selling of real estate backed CDO's while a subordinate sold the CDO's short. At first blush, that sounds pretty horrific. Selling worthless investments and ripping off the buyers. Then you sell the contracts short, in essence, betting that they are worthless and ripping off an insurer like AIG. That way you profit handsomely from another player.

Yawn. This is a classic dog and pony show.

Let me explain the world of business. Smart people stealing from dumb people. That's how it works. I don't care what industry it is. Everybody is trying to make the most money with the least amount of work. I don't care if that occurs on a car lot, legal drug dealers ripping you off, health insurers gouging you, closing a home loan and adding expenses and fees and the highest rate possible, or buying plastic shit on late night TV.

Politicians like Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, and Obama himself are bought and paid for candidates. Their campaigns were financed with money from investment banks. They are under great pressure from their constituents to prosecute someone for the great heist that occurred in this country. They want to keep their jobs. Pass banking reform. They have 7 months to do something before the mid term elections in 2010.

So they have created the Goldman Sachs fraud case. A government dog and pony show that will make them look like good guys. Unfortunately, Frank, Dodd, and the House and Senate banking committees, undid the regulations that allowed this crap to happen. They don't like to talk about that too much. They are focused on the solution.

I was watching the put to call volumes yesterday when the news broke. Calls on Goldman Sachs stock were running 12-1 over put volume. That despite the fact Goldman Sachs stock took a 13% haircut. I am not so interested in what occurred yesterday. What I'd dearly love to know is- who bought puts on GS stock in the prior 3 months. I mean, you can't announce fraud charges without doing some sort of investigation. That takes time. Lord knows, the SEC works at a snail's pace often while squeezing all that porn watching in. And then you gotta get government prosecutors to ok all that information.

The reason everybody was buying calls, in addition to insuring their underlying positions, was that anybody with half a brain knows this is all bullshit. A dog and pony show to appease the masses.

You want to get serious SEC? Investigate former treasury secretary Hank Paulson and his financial ties to Goldman about the time he let their biggest competitor, Bear Stearns, fail.

Even if I didn't believe this was an SEC dog and pony show, what are the government's chances of winning this case? Slim to none. You see, government is pretty good at picking on individuals and companies with no deep pockets. They just overwhelm you with superior numbers and financial strength. Taxpayer paid for lawyers. It's the "recovery" don't you know?

I clipped a piece of an article from a Mainstream News Media story. It's drivel.

The Labor Department attributes the jump in initial claims to volatility related to the Easter holiday and other so-called "administrative" factors.

"I agree with this because all of the labor market indicators are looking up" said Gus Faucher, senior economist for Moody's Economy.com.

The number of people filing continuing claims totaled 4,639,000 in the week ended April 3, the most recent data available. That figure was up 73,000 from the preceding week's 4,556,000 claims, and above the 4.58 million economists expected, according to Briefing.com.

The four-week moving average for continuing claims totaled 4,638,500, down 13,750 from the preceding week's revised average of 4,652,250.

Continuing claims data exclude people whose benefits expired or those who have moved to state or federal extensions. It reflects those filing each week after their initial claim until the end of their standard benefits, which usually last 26 weeks.

Stimulus is working

Lawmakers in the House and Senate have moved closer to approving an extension of unemployment insurance. In March, the government instituted a number of tax breaks for businesses and other measures to spark job growth and bring down the national unemployment rate, which hovers at 9.7%.

The Easter holiday always screws things up. All that egg painting and church going causes people to quit their jobs. And administrative problems. Like Carol at our accounting office took Good Friday off.

The truth is, is that all we are witnessing is pent up demand. After two years of inventory exhaustion, manufacturing is picking up a bit. Demand is still poor. If things were rosy, we wouldn't see shitty numbers like this. And they are shitty.

But I'll be damned if the MSM doesn't keep trying to put lipstick on this pig, with liberal mentalities and an idea that nanny government actually knows what its doing. They don't.

GDP v Sovereign Debt, the Real Problem, an Explanation

California by itself would be the 8th biggest GDP country in the world. Yet, California teeters on the edge of complete bankruptcy. They are broke. GDP to debt in California is actually quite small and manageable expressed in those long accepted terms. So what is the problem?

Liabilities not accounted for and credit supply. They simply have no way of financing additional debt. They have no access to the Federal Reserves ghost money. Raising taxes and creative billing is what is left to them. I say ghost money because were an audit ever conducted of the Fed I think what we would find is fractional banking gone berserk. I am talking ratios beyond 1-100.

The other problem is that California has one of the most liberal and high paying public retirement systems ever conceived. Those retirees get a boatload of money for very short work lifespans. You simply can't give people 75% of their working salary after 25 years. It is charity. They can and will live far longer-perhaps 40 years and beyond- the end of their public working lives.

Here's the benefit structure I snipped from public fund survey.

60/5; 50/5 or 55/5 for public safety personnel, depending on employer election

2.0% at 60/5, rising to 2.418% at 63/5; employers may select from a range of benefit structures, including 3.0% at 50 and 55 for law enforcement personnel

How would you like to make 75% of your highest working salary for the rest of your life at age 50? After 25 years working? Plus cost of living adjustments. Beyond sweet. Unsustainable.

With a 21 billion dollar deficit, legalizing pot won't do much. Money already changes hands in greater amounts. Good for consumers. Good for cops and an overburdened justice system. (whether they accept that or not) But it is too little, too late.

Anyway that's the problem. USA debt has the same problem. At 100% debt to GDP, the Fed manufactures money out of debt. The problem is supply. When the world's greatest economy starts to crater it takes the collective action of every nation in the world to prop us up. So far, Japan, China, and Great Britain have done so. If their economies continue to deteriorate, they won't be able to. Japan and China are in a death dance with us. To save their existing treasury investments they must continue to invest in us or lose what is on deposit. The USA has an ungodly pipeline debt of 60 trillion coming due and payable in the form of Social Security and Medicare payments. California it seems, is a petri dish, a sneak preview of our coming collapse.

That's why expressing debt to GDP is really a pretty antiquated way of seeing the problem, although that has been a universally accepted practice. Can we survive at 125% or 150% debt to GDP? Sure. As long as the Fed isn't audited.

If that audit ever occurs, and TRUST ME IT NEVER WILL, the world will suffer a complete and total collapse. What we don't know, it seems, isn't hurting us yet.

Traders don't fight the tape. The one year market rally continues because this is herd mentality. Buying stock long for no other reason than everyone else is.

Remember the tulip bulb craze, and the housing bubble? We have a stock market bubble that is about ready to burst. Within weeks. On the short side, I'll say 4 weeks. On the long side, 40 weeks. But it will occur this year.

Let me explain why. And it is a sure bet.

Smart investors never buy companies with enormous debt loads. They are teetering on the verge of bankruptcy. There is one exception. If the company has some capacity to bring a product forth that is so promising that it can wipe the debt burden away. Absent that, anyone buying a debt laden company is an idiot.

The USA is one of those companies. The only thing it can do to save itself, is to slash and burn virtually all government spending and use that excess capital to pay off principal on its debt burden. Absent that strategy, or finding some capacity, the USA cannot survive. Make no mistake about it. We are on life support. The debt burden is that great. Thirteen trillion, or 13,000 billion. These are fantastic numbers. Unprecedented and rising. And accumulating interest.

So what happens during a recovery? Well, more and more absent consumers re-enter the market place. They create demand. Inflation rises. Lending rates rise. And now all of a sudden, we will be refinancing all of that debt, 40% of it this year alone, at even higher rates. The debt clock will suddenly go into warp drive. This at a moment when all of the entitlement programs become due and payable. It is like pouring Miracle Grow on knapweed. When all those baby boomers suddenly quit contributing to the National Ponzi scheme and start asking for their money back.

It is the perfect storm.

And some very smart guys are gonna make a hell of a lot of money. But most will not. This is an inflation scenario. Forget deflation. That window is gone. The last extraction of wealth. If you missed these last two crazy swings, you'll get one last do over. Get into cash and commodities now. Get ready to short and buy puts- if you can. It might be slow erosion or a flash flood- and if you miss the perfect storm- you may miss the last opportunity to get well again. I am going to post the debt clock. I want you to read the bottom line. Please tell me how you plan to pay your portion of the 350,000 debt that every citizen owes. Or the 116,000 that every taxpayer owes. How long can this go on? Not much longer.

In late October, Helicopter Ben Bernanke, stated flatly that the recession was over. He all but claimed the credit for averting disaster. A few days later, there was President Wordsmith saying that he would re-appoint Ben for doing such a great job.

That's how government works. Lie and kiss your bosses' ass, keep your job. Don't ever let the truth come between you and your personal needs. The essence of government work as we know it.

Now if the recession were truly over, you'd expect to see orders grow and businesses fire up, getting loans and hiring people. You certainly would expect to see something driving the new upswing since the Great Recession is certainly over. You would not expect to see 24% of this countries' mortgages in arrears and growing. You would not expect to see news like this four months after the worst was declared over:

Initial jobless claims hit 3-month high

Initial jobless claims rose by 22,000 last week to a seasonally adjusted 496,000, the Labor Department said this morning. Economists had been expecting claims to have fallen to 460,000.

It was the highest rate since the middle of November and the sixth increase in the first eight weeks of 2010. The four-week average of initial claims rose 6,000 to 473,750.

"This level of claims is still inconsistent with private sector employment growth," Nomura Securities economist Zach Pandl wrote in a note to clients. "We believe today's report adds downside risk to our forecast for nonfarm payroll employment for February."

If I hear one more dismal scientist tell me that employment is a lagging indicator I am going to throw up in my mouth. Perhaps twenty four percent of outstanding mortagages in arrears is a lagging indicator. And while Rome burns, President Wordsmith is raising taxes, collections, and trying to get healthcare for all those Big Mac eaters and IV drug users.
